2010 Lambert and Annetje Van Valckenburg
Memorial Scholarship Winner Announced

The NAVVF is pleased to announce that the winner of the 2010 Lambert and Annetje Van Valkenburg Memorial Scholarship of $1000 is JOHN THOMAS GARCZYNSKI, III of Virginia Beach, VA for his essay entitled "Family First." The winning essay will appear in an upcoming issue of the NAVVF NewsNotes. John will graduate from Frank W. Cox High School in 2010. He is the great grandson of Barbara E. Van Valkenburg White.

Honorable Mention goes to Laura van Valkenburg of Fayetteville, NC for her proposal for an NAVVF youth program entitled "The Van Valkenburg Thing"; and to Katherine Kilgore of Indianapolis, IN for her essay entitled, "A Grandmother's Memory."

The number of submissions to this year's competition was the largest we have ever had, and the scholarship committee wishes to thank each and every applicant for your hard work and for sharing your heartfelt and interesting stories. You are all deserving of the best.

All participants in the scholarship competition will receive a one-year membership in the NAVVF.
