OBITUARIES


KENNETH ROGER VAN VALKENBURG 77, a Warsaw, NY, native died in his home in Walkertown, NC, on Sunday, 12/28/97. He was born 12/7/20 in Warsaw, NY, and enlisted in the US Army in September 1942 serving as a technician fifth grade in the Coastal Artillery in Algeria where he was wounded. He married Gladys R. McClure, on February 28, 1945. He was a Life Member of the American Disabled Veterans, a member of the Wyoming County (NY) Veterans, the American Legion and a Life Member of the NAVVF.

RITCHIE VAN VALKENBURG SHERMAN passed away on May 5, 1997, at the age of 99. Her parents were George and Lola Van Valkenburg of Stony Creek, CT. Originaly the family came from New York. My mother had one brother, George, and three sisters, Mae, Geneva and Pearl. She is survived by two daughters and one son... Marion E. Hawkins

ALBERT J. CHASE, SR, 68, of Charlottteville, died Saturday, February 7, 1998. He was born Sept 10, 1929, in Gilboa to Millard and Alta (Van Valkenburg) Chase and married Genevieve Groff on Aug 28, 1950 in Batchlerville, MO. Mr. Chase was employed with Rua and Sons in Cobleskill for several years. He is survived by his wife and eight children.

MERWIN GEORGE, 81, of Arkville died Saturday, Feb 7, 1998, at Margaretville. He was born June 22, 1916, in Arkville, the son of Linley George and Mabel Van Valkenburg. He married Mabel VanKeuren on Dec 31, 1934. He was affiliated with his father in the feed and coal business for 38 years.
