Many of us have experienced receiving letters and other mailings with Van Valkenburg(h) spelled a variety of ways. Many, many years ago, the more simple variations I had seen were surpassed when I received a letter addressed to "Robert Van Valhenbuzle."

Just recently, I purchased a new computer from Hewlett-Packard and was entitled to a small rebate. I very carefully filled out the rebate request card by printing all the required information instead of writing it all out in longhand. When the rebate was received, the envelope and the enclosed check were both made out to "Robert Van Valkonarich."
