From David Van Valkenburg:

I am a member of the NAAVF and as far as I know, the only Van Valkenburg living in Guatemala. I serve as the Political Counselor of the American Embassy in Guatemala City, a job I expect to fill until about July 2001. About six months before that, I'll probably know my next American Foreign Service assignment.

From the NAAVF website, Paul I's books and other sources, I know that the city of Valkenburg aan Geul has had many rulers, including Romans, Austrians, French, Belgians and Spanish. Did all those far away rulers refer to the town, in administrative documents and the like, as 'Valkenburg,' or did they have their own names for the place? Maybe translations, like Halconburgo or Villahalcon in Spanish?…
