Civil War Experience:
Joined the unit at Mc Minnville, TN in Aug 1863 after sickness of long duration and unable to do military duty. Was sent to hospital. In Oct rebels raided the area and took all soldiers prisoner, robbing them of clothing and unlawfully parolling them. He was in Bridgeport, AL when he asked for help to get to his regiment. The union force failed in attempt to get him. On 17 Jan 1864 when Union forces arrived they found him and per his request got him discharged from the convalescent camp. He stayed with his unit, but was unable to do soldier's duty. On 27 Feb 1864 he became very lame with rhumatism and was sent to a comfortable hospital at Mc Minnville. They had his discharge papers made out and on 8 Mar 1864 they took them to him and found him dead. On 9 Mar 1864 the company turned out and buried him with military honors. This is near Murfeesboro, TN.
